Mar Tranquilidade – Guest Cottages on the Beach
The cornerstone of Mar Tranquilidade was laid in October, 1999, and it wasn’t long before we were accommodating the first guests. Roomy stone cottages with thatched or tile roofs, apartments, with toilets and showers (not heated, ca. 25°c), lying directly on the beach, surrounded by an acacia grove. Interspersed with shady gardens, the terraces and balconies offer beautiful views and cozy, private corners for relaxing. Our kitchen serves dishes prepared with many local products, including fresh fish and seafood caught right outside our door. Of course, we serve cold beer, soft drinks, wines and spirits. Our tap water comes from a mountain spring and is potable and good tasting. The wide variety of possible activities and the spacious bungalows make Mar Tranquilidade the perfect place for a longer stay, for example to escape the winter. With our free WI-FI you can stay in touch with home or work. The road to Tarrafal is now completely finished; the drive is shorter and more comfortable, making side trips to the other side of the island realistically possible. If you would like to do this you can store unneeded belongings with us safely and free of charge until you return. At Mar Tranquilidade you can do your laundry or have it done for you.
